APRIL IN SEVILLE – ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR!

The Seville Feria, also known as the April Fair, is one of the most iconic and traditional events in Spain. Every year, thousands of locals and tourists gather to celebrate this festive event, which takes place in the Andalusian city of Seville. The Seville Feria of April 2023 promises to be another unforgettable week of culture, food, and entertainment.

The Seville Feria dates back to the 19th century when it started as a cattle market, but it has since evolved into a grand celebration of Andalusian culture.

The Feria takes place in a large fairground called Real de la Feria, which is decorated with thousands of colourful lights, traditional lanterns, and festive flags.

During the week-long event, locals and visitors dress up in traditional Andalusian clothing, including flamenco dresses for women and suits and hats for men. The Seville Feria officially begins with a spectacular opening ceremony, which includes a parade of carriages led by the city’s mayor. Visitors can enjoy various carnival rides, games, and attractions, or visit one of the many “Casetas“ (marquees) set up by local associations, families, and businesses.

The casetas are a significant part of the Seville Feria, and they offer visitors the chance to experience traditional Andalusian hospitality. Inside the casetas, you’ll find music, dancing, and plenty of food and drink. Visitors can sample traditional Andalusian dishes such as gazpacho, paella, and pescaíto frito (fried fish), as well as local wines and sherries.

In addition to the casetas, there are numerous events and activities throughout the week, including equestrian shows, and concerts by some of Spain’s top performers. One of the highlights of the Feria is the stunning fireworks display that takes place on the final night of the event.
