THE TOP 5 REASONS TO RELOCATE TO THE COSTA DEL SOL, SPAIN

Spain has recently been voted in the top 5 countries worldwide to relocate to. Now that Spain´s Digital Nomad Visa is about to launch ( January 2023 ) and that we are experienced and trusted relocation specialists, we decided to put together our top reasons why you should relocate too!

LIFESTYLE

Wind Surfing Tarifa

Yes, you’ve guessed it, the lifestyle in Spain is  the number one reason why our clients have taken the jump to relocate to the South of Spain. With an average of 320 days of sunshine a year, this certainly boosts the serotonin and happiness factor! Life is all about finding that balance of happiness and what better place to achieve that than relocating to a place where there are endless beaches, top class restaurants and cuisine, excellent international schools, fantastic transport links, and the joy of life that the Spanish have. Apart from that, there are many outdoor activities and sports for adults and children alike which contribute to a wonderful healthy lifestyle. You can even go skiing in the morning and sunbathing in the afternoon! There are over 70 golf courses up and down the Costa del Sol, many equestrian and polo centres, water sports, snow skiing in Granada, wind surfing in Tarifa, paddle boarding, tennis and country clubs, so no excuse not to get out and be active with the whole family!

COST OF LIVING

Euros

We all know how difficult it has been in 2022 with the rising cost of living due to geopolitical circumstances. Although Spain too has experienced this, the cost of living is still low in comparison to other countries with Switzerland ranking the highest at 123.3 on the cost of living index as opposed to Spain’s 53.9, that’s more than double! One can still go out for tapas the original way where you order your beer or drink and a free tapa of something delicious is included. Grocery shopping is still relatively cheap with the many local municipal markets offering fresh farm to table produce. That’s not to mention the healthy Mediterranean diet one can enjoy whilst living here full time. Dining out in Malaga on average, a 3 course meal in a mid priced restaurant for 2 persons is 45€ and Paris is 60€. A domestic beer on average in Malaga is 2.50€ while a domestic beer in Paris is 7€! A café con leche or cappuccino in Paris is on average 3.63€ ( some would say more ) and in Malaga a lovely 1.73€ though we must admit we have purchased coffees for as low as 1€! ( Statistics by statista.com )

SAFETY

Safe Environment

It’s of course super important to relocate to a safe country for your family, so regarding crime statistics, Malaga, Spain came in at 27.1 on the safety Index list and remarkably, Malmo, Sweden came in a lot higher at 55.7 with Birmingham, UK an incredible 62.6! Again, another important factor when making that decision to relocate to the Costa del Sol.

EDUCATION AND SCHOOLS

Education

Many of our clients who have relocated or are looking to relocate, are families with on average 2 children. The standard of education is extremely high on the Costa del Sol, especially in the International schools. In the Malaga province there are 33 International schools, with many of them enrolling from age 3 until 18. Among these schools there are British, Swedish, French, German, Norwegian and all teaching Spanish in conjunction with that particular school’s curriculum. Indeed, a vast choice of excellent learning institutions which will benefit any children who relocate here.

  CULTURE

The Alhambra Granada

Rich in culture and tradition, Spain and the Andalucía region in particular has so much to offer any couple, single person or family who choose to relocate to these sunny shores. Gorgeous white villages, amazing beaches, restaurants, traditional flamenco music, local fiestas and carnivals, the list is endless. From Cadiz being the oldest city in Europe to Malaga’s wonderful Picasso Museum and the outstanding Alhambra Palace in Granada, there is a wealth of architecture, museums, quaint villages and gastronomical delights to be explored. Especially with Andalucía, the Moorish influence from the past is everywhere, there is always so  much to see and learn, you will never be bored!
